The Platteville Power Soccer Club (PPSC) was founded in 1987 to provide area youth the opportunity to play more competitive levels of soccer. The Club is run by a board of volunteer parents and community members. Our youth players come from Platteville and the surrounding communities and they range in age from 8 to 19 years of age. They are placed on age appropriate teams with respect to registrations received during the two registration periods (around June and January). Registration for new players can be accepted throughout the year based on roster availability. The soccer year is August 1 through July 31 with a fall season and a spring season. (See below for specific league season information.) In addition to league play, teams may choose to play in 1-3 tournaments during the league season or in the summer. Player registration fees and one Club fundraiser pay for team league registrations, referee fees, equipment, uniform fund, administrative costs, tournament registration fees, etc. The Club provides most players with shorts and 2 jerseys (for home and away game colors). Each family is responsible for their player’s soccer shoes, shin guards, the purchase of team soccer socks from the Club, and a ball for practices. PPSC is a member of Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) and competes in two districts, SWYSA and MAYSA:

SWYSA: Southwest Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association

Local communities involved in SWYSA are Cuba City, Fennimore, Lancaster, Platteville, Potosi, Prairie du Chien, Richland Center and Spring Green. This is a recreational league and a great introduction for the younger players and families into competitive soccer. Teams play 6 games, usually half home/half away on Saturday mornings, in the spring season March-May, and 1-2 tournaments/festivals. Games and season schedules are determined by the communities who are participating each spring and by the break out of teams formed for each age bracket. In PPSC, SWYSA players are usually 8 to 12 years old and the registration fee is currently $40/player.

MAYSA: Madison Area Youth Soccer Association

The MAYSA district has 37 clubs from Madison and surrounding communities. This league takes soccer to the next level of competition with multiple divisions in Recreation, Classic and Premier. PPSC registers teams in the Recreational and Classic divisions. Teams will play 8 games in the fall, 8 games in the spring, and 2-3 tournaments/festivals. Half the league games will be home and half away, most within 25-80 miles from Platteville. Games and season schedules are determined by the MAYSA office in Madison in consideration of feedback from each Club.

Middle school age: The PPSC’s registration fee for MAYSA players aged 9-14 (4th-8th grades) is currently $135/player/full year’s fall-spring seasons. The primary game day is Saturday with Sunday being the alternate day.

High school age and older players: PPSC’s registration fee for MAYSA players aged 14-19 (9th-12th grades and one year beyond HS) is $120/player/one fall or spring season (8 games). These age groups play opposite of the high school soccer seasons – HS girls play Club soccer in the fall August-Oct./Nov. and HS boys play Club Soccer in the spring March-early June. The primary game day is Sunday with Saturday being the alternate day.
